Hi friends! For those that don’t know me, I wanted to share a few things about myself by way of introduction:
1. Both my husband and I graduated from Texas Tech with engineering degrees. We met in one of the engineering buildings on campus - and that's where he proposed to me!
2. I have summited two mountains, Guadalupe Peak (tallest in Texas) and Mount Whitney (tallest in the contiguous 48), and have experienced numerous outdoor adventures (thanks to my awesome dad!) including canyoneering in Zion Canyons, white water rafting and white water kayaking in multiple states, and countless camping trips.
3. My college internship and first full-time job after graduation was with Marathon Oil Company in Oklahoma City. It was an absolutely incredible experience - great people, fascinating work, and tons of learning opportunities. I learned a lot about the oil & gas industry - and please, do not believe everything you hear in the media - and both the industry and OKC will always have a special place in my heart.
4. I am a cat mom to two beautiful, sweet, full-of-attitude felines - Lyla and Bernoulli (Beanie, for short). I love all animals, but these two have a very special place in my heart.
5. I was a summer camp counselor for a YMCA camp during the summers in high school. You’d be amazed at how many life and future job skills that position taught me. I learned to think quickly on my feet, improvise, handle tough situations with kids that are unreasonable (this works on unreasonable adults, too) and I still remember camp songs in case I need to entertain a room full of people for a few hours while it pours rain outside.
6. I am an only child, and my husband reminds me of this all the time :) Apparently, I still don't share my toys (read: wine) well.
7. I love everything spa - massages, facials, pedicures/manicures, etc.
8. I was a sports medicine trainer in high school - and I'm pretty sure I could still wrap an ankle if I had to. :)
9. I grew up in Sugar Land, TX - outside of Houston - named for and home to the headquarters of Imperial Sugar, one of the oldest continuously operating companies in Texas.
10. I own my own company - Safety Playbook - where I help small and medium sized businesses with their workplace safety challenges. I have a passion to help keep people safe and make sure everyone goes home the way they showed up. I love teaching others what I’ve learned and sharing best practices that have helped me.
